My sweet hubby

Okay I'm finally blogging again. Thanks for the tag Roseann!

1. What's his name: Joshua
2. How long have you been married: 5 years
3. How long did you date: About 6 weeks if you count the "unofficial" dates.
4. How old is he: 27
5. Who eats more: It depends on what and when we're eating. Usually, he eats more at meal time and I do a lot of snacking throughout the day.
6. Who said "I love you" first: It was me but Josh can't seem to remember that. He thinks it must have been him because he's a little more romantic than I am.
7. Who is taller: Him. And he seems to think I'm short because of it. I'm a good average 5'5".
8. Who sings better: Eeehh...probably me just a little bit.
9. Who is smarter: I would say Josh. He speaks this whole language with lots of acronyms that I don't understand at all.
10. Whose temper is worse: I don't really think I have much of a temper, but Josh definitely has more patience than I do.
11. Who does the laundry: Mostly me, but Josh helps with it quite a bit. Especially when he can see its about to take over the house.
12. Who does the dishes: We share this one pretty well too. Josh is always willing to do them after dinner if he has time, but sometimes I prefer to do the dishes and let him spend some time with the kids. I can be a little picky about the cleanliness of my kitchen. Josh helps unload the dishwasher a lot which is one of my least favorite chores. And he can reach the dish cupboard with the dishwasher open and I can't. I guess his tallness has its benefits.
13. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed: Facing the bed, he would be on the right side. I have a weird thing about needing to face out from the bed and also be facing the door.
14. Who pays the bills: Josh makes the money and I manage it. Most of our bills are on auto pay so there's really not too much to do there.
15. Who mows the lawn: Josh takes care of that one.
16. Who cooks dinner: I do. I seem to remember a nearly empty refrigerator in his apartment back when he were dating.
17. Who drives when you are together: Usually him.
18. Who is more stubborn: Probably me. But once again it really depends on how important something is to each of us.
19. Who is the first to admit when they are wrong: Josh is much better about this one. I really don't like being wrong. Josh seems to like it quite a lot. Just kidding!
20. Whose parents do you visit the most: We live closer to my parents and so we see them more. It's a little more even now that Josh's parents are back in the country again!
21. Who proposed: Josh did. We'd already talked about getting married and shopped for the ring though. So he didn't have to wonder if I was going to say yes!
22. Who has more friends: We've never counted. Josh makes friends faster I think but I would say most of our friends now our friends to both of us.
23. Who has more siblings: He does. He has 6 siblings and I have 5.
24. Who wears the pants in the family: We don't make any big decisions without consulting each other so we really share that one. Josh wears pants most though because some days I wear skirts.

Mind games...literally

A company called Emotiv has developed some games that use brain waves to control gameplay. Imagine how your wrists and thumbs won't be hurting as much in the future. Check out the video here. It's been published in the Wall Street Journal, from GDC (Game Developer Conference), and more. Pretty cool, eh?

Our future missionary

There is nothing cuter than a baby dressed like a miniature adult with a gigantic binkie stuck in his mouth. I find I don't need to buy a lot of clothes for Tanner these days because we get so many cute hand-me-downs from his cousins. But, I just couldn't resist when I ran across this little number the other day. I would save it for Easter but I want to get the most out of it. I didn't find out until after I got it home that it is dry-clean only. Isn't that silly? Who makes dry-clean only baby clothes? And Tanner is kind of a spitty little guy. He made sure to break it in with a little spit up right before we left for church. Oh well, I buy almost all our clothes on sale so this is my splurge.

Natalie was also looking exceptionally cute on Sunday. We cracked open the next box of Sydney's old baby clothes for her. Lots of cute dresses for the upcoming season. She's very excited about it.

Sydney wanted to be included in the photo shoot but she was not dressed for church yet. She did her own hair though so she could match Natalie. Natalie is giving us the evil eye in this picture.

Getting Out

Last week we were able to get out quite a bit more than usual. The weather got a little warmer there for a bit which was so nice. I like our house very much but the kids and I are all getting a little stir crazy what with this incredibly snowy winter this year. On Monday, my mom helped me take them to the Discovery children's museum at the gateway mall. Tanner and Natalie are free for 3 more months until they turn one so I thought we should take advantage of that. It's a little pricey to get in but Sydney had a ton of fun. Her very favorite thing is the helicopter. We found a little station where you can talk into a microphone and pretend to be a DJ on the radio with background music and stuff. I told Sydney to sing into it and in her loudest singing voice she starts, "Listen to the still small voice! Listen, listen! When you have to make a choice he will guide you! Always!" It's her favorite primary song.

On Tuesday, we had unusually nice weather and the snow was almost all melted. (Just in time for another nice big snow storm on Wednesday.) So I bundled up the twins pretty good and took the kids to "Ducky Park." We named this park ourselves. We had the playground all to ourselves the whole time we were there. Tanner was just so excited to sit there in his stroller and watch Sydney play. He kept squealing. I got some cute pictures of Sydney and was having too much fun with my camera. It takes such great outdoor pictures and it's been so cold I haven't had a chance to use it outside too much. Sydney refused to even look at me after a few shots. After a hundred or so she was telling me to stop taking her picture.

Where's the camera?

It's funny how often we take either too many pictures and not enjoy the moment or we're lacking a camera for a really great moment. Here's the transcript of the one I missed last night. Imagine this picture:

Last night the twins were on one side of the table, both in high chairs. Lisa on the opposite side and Sydney on the end. The babies were still hungry after eating through a ton of baby food, but don't like watching other people eat. Lisa breaks off a few pieces of bread and tosses them onto the high chair trays. Sydney starts joining in.

Lisa: "This is just like feeding the ducks."

My mom phrase

"Sometimes we have to do things we don't want to do." I feel like I've been saying this a lot lately. It's becoming my "mom phrase." You know, the phrase you say all the time and then later on your kids will say it and go "aahh! I sound just like my mother!" I don't recall my mom ever saying this to me, so I must have come up with it all on my own. It might have something to do with a certain 3-year-old who's favorite phrase is "but I don't waaaaaaant to." I find myself sounding just like my mom from time to time, but I don't mind so much because if I ended up being just like my mom it would be a pretty good thing. And Sydney talks all the time about how she wants to be a mom when she grows up, so maybe when finds herself using my mom phrase she'll say, "yay! I sound just like my mother!"

Quote the Sydney: The Return

Sydney: Daddy? Baby has been playing with my make-up so she's in timeout.

Daddy: Oh......Ok.

(5 minutes later)

Sydney: Daddy? Baby isn't listening to me so she's in timeout again. Why won't she listen to me?

Daddy: How does it make you feel?

Sydney: Sad.(5 minutes later)

Sydney: Daddy? Baby won't listen to me. Daddy? You tell her she needs to listen to me.

Daddy: (trying to keep a straight face) Sure sweetie.

A New Day

One of the great examples in my life passed away January 27, President Gordon B. Hinckley. It was an amazing funeral, with the spirit strong confirming his example, our beliefs, etc. It's neat to see the new First Presidency, and know the mantle has passed. It's also neat to see the men with the weight of the church on such noble and spiritual shoulders with smiles on their faces. Click on the image to go to the article.
